How to Put on the Perfect Event

The Correct Choice of Marquee Provides the Perfect Setting for a Party With a Medieval Theme

Give your party a unique feel with a medieval performance. Set the scene by hiring the appropriate marquee for the occasion and turn your party into an event that no one will ever forget.

A party is a performance of sorts

When you throw a party with a medieval theme, it is somewhat akin to putting on a play. If you have entertainment at the party, then your guests are an audience. Mostly they will become part of the performance, especially if you ask them to dress up according to the theme.

A performance needs costumes and scenery

In your party performance, your guests will wear costumes from the medieval times, just like actors in a play. It is up to you to set the scene. This means that the marquee that you hire should be set out and decorated to recreate the look and feel of medieval times.

A performance needs the correct space

Do not hire a traditional marquee for your party that has one main open space in which all the aspects of the 'performance' take place. Hire a marquee that has a section that can be divided into separate 'rooms' or spaces, to recreate the feel for your guests of medieval performances. During those times, there were no actual buildings where plays took place. Performances took place outside on makeshift stages, or on carts that doubled as stages. Different scenes were performed in different physical locations, so that the audience could move through the performance, pausing at each different scene. The different 'rooms' in your marquee will be like these different stages in medieval theatre.

A performance space must be decorated

In each of the different, smaller spaces in your marquee, you should stage a different 'scene' from your overall party performance.

One of the 'rooms' can be the bar, where the guests will go in order to participate in the 'drinking  scene'. You should decorate this section of the marquee so that it resembles a traditional medieval inn.

Use three other sections of the marquee for the three courses of the meal: starters, mains and desserts. Each of these spaces should be decorated according to the aspect of medieval life they represent. For starters you may have soups, so assume this section represents winter in medieval times, which would be dimly lit and involving, perhaps, the idea of a fire.

For the section where you will serve the main course, assume that this is the 'hunting scene'. Decorate the area so that you create the feeling of being in a wood. You could use edieval weapons as part of the decor.

The dessert section should be about fun. Here, you should use musical instruments as part of your decoration. You can fill in space with clown costumes, or coloured wigs.
