Marquee Specifications

  • Traditional marquees: These marquees are popular due to their appeal and functionality. Typically, a series of pegs hold down the marquee canvas. These marquees often incorporate windows and AC systems.
  • Pagodas: They are significantly smaller compared to other types of marquees. They often serve as catering tents or a walkway to the main marquee.
  • Yurt marquees: These marquees have a circular shape. Although appealing, these marquees are difficult to set up.
  • Clearspan or frame marques: An aluminium frame holds the marquee canvas. The marquee occupies a smaller area since it is free-standing. 

Ideally, you should visit the venue to determine a suitable marquee. For example, if the location has a concrete floor, you could choose a frame marquee since it does not need pegs. Conversely, pagodas would be ideal for constricted areas. Traditional marquees work well in expansive areas. Besides, they are quite sturdy and will withstand storms and strong winds. 

Rental Conditions

Once you decide on a suitable marquee, contact a few marquee hire companies to establish the availability of the marquee. The secret is to compare the rental conditions to determine which company offers the services you need. Look out for the following: 

  • How long can you keep the tent? Remember, you might need to install the tent the day before the wedding. Additionally, you might need the marquee till late at night if you intend to hold an after-party.
  • The company should provide a clean and well-kept wedding marquee.
  • What are the client's responsibilities? In most cases, the company expects you to guarantee the safety of the marquee. Besides, you should not damage the marquee.
  • The marquee rental company must insure the marquee. It protects you from lawsuits and losses if the marquee gets damaged during a storm.
  • Check whether the rental company offers transport and installation services. Moreover, inquire whether these services attract an additional fee.
  • Compare the rental charges. Most companies charge less if you rent the marquee during the weekdays. Additionally, ask for a discount. 

If possible, you should consider rental companies that offer comprehensive party services such as lighting, sound and décor. It prevents the hassles of dealing with different service providers during the wedding.
